Craig Hulbert
Growing up in Sydney, Craig's journey into horticulture began with a handful of ferns sold beside a busy road and nights spent studying at Ryde School of Horticulture. With a background in Agriculture originally, and a growing obsession with plants, he moved through the Sydney nursery industry building a wealth of hands-on knowledge — and along the way, met his wife Julie, who would become his partner in both life and plants for the next 40 years.

Julie knew from a young age — six, to be precise — that plants were her calling. She just didn't know it was called horticulture back then. Starting with no experience and plenty of enthusiasm, she worked her way through the Sydney nursery industry, completed her horticultural studies at Ryde School of Horticulture, and found in Craig a like-minded soul who shared her passion. From the start, she knew they'd make a formidable team.
Together
After years running a successful landscaping business, raising a family, and cultivating gardens of their own, Julie and Craig now call the beautiful Ovens Valley in North East Victoria home — the home of Alpine Perennials Nursery.
